The Quartet BTE 643A Combination Dry-Erase & Bulletin is a polished looking board that offers the convenience of both a dry-erase and bulletin board. At three feet wide and two feet high, it is a nice fit for moderate use environments like waiting rooms, small conference rooms, small offices, and personal workspace.
KEY FEATURES
Total Erase Whiteboard: The BTE643A features a Total Erase surface, which is unique to Quartet. This surface resists ghosting and has a light grid pattern. The grid is pretty light so it can only be seen up close. It does, however, help people like me who can’t write in a straight line, all on my own like a big girl.
Our Quartet expert, Kim, uses this board in her daughter’s room and has found the grid especially handy when making charts. It is designed for moderate use, but it has held up nicely to a five year old’s daily play. Although the whiteboard resists staining, be sure to clean it occasionally. Just like visiting in-laws; the longer you let ink sit, the more it gets comfortable and wants to stay.
Embossed Foam Bulletin Board: The self-healing surface allows for heavy use without leaving gaping pin holes. many of us are used to cubical walls, where the slightest breeze will bring all your photos and memos swirling to the floor. The foam on this board holds documents securely, so there is no need to fear a push pin assault when you walk by.
The BTE643A has a modern look with it’s brushed aluminum frame and black and white surfaces. This makes it a nice fit for professional spaces. Since we have the black bulletin portion covered with artwork and crafts galore, it doesn’t even look so bad in the pink and fluff of my little one’s room.
CONSIDERATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Besides a couple of cubical boards, this is the only Total Erase & fabric combo board that Quartet offers. If you need a larger board, the only other combination options are the Quartet S554 Dry Erase Cork Combo Board – 4×3 and the Quartet S564 Dry Erase Cork Combo Board – 4×3. Both of these boards have melamine whiteboard surfaces and cork bulletin board surfaces and are designed for low frequency use.
If you need something bigger for moderate or high frequency use, you may consider getting separate boards. Total Erase whiteboards and fabric bulletin boards are designed moderate use, while porcelain whiteboards and magnetic fabric bulletin boards are best for high traffic environments. The porcelain boards are also resistant to denting and scratching, so they will stand up to heavy duty use moderate use environments.
Cork bulletin boards are the classic standard. These neutral looking boards offer both strong holding power and an economical price point, making them an attractive option for equipping your workspace with a bulletin surface on a budget.

Porcelain is smooth and nonporous by nature, withstanding frequent use. Ink sits on the surface without penetrating for stain and ghost proof performance. The DuraMax surface won't scratch or dent, and it will double as a magnetic bulletin space with the addition of magnets.
This surface offers smooth writing and clean erasing. Many of Quartet's Total Erase boards are printed with a light grid pattern that makes it easier to keep writing aligned all across the board. With the stain and ghost resistance necessary to withstand moderate use.
